IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHANGE LICENSE PLATES, MAKE SURE THE ONE ON THE FRONT IS THE SAME AS THE ONE ON THE REAR

What’s the big deal? He was just a ‘Non-Violent, Non-Dangerous’ parolee with a sawed-off shotgun.

Hmmm, mismatched plates and a sawed-off shotgun. Me thinks they were getting ready to use that car in a robbery.

ANOTHER DUMB (OR UNLUCKY) GOLD STAR PAROLEE

An observant cop and (maybe) some bad luck led to a parolee being busted in the teeming metropolis of Benecia on Thursday.

Sgt. John Daley of the Benecia P.D. spotted a car in the parking lot of a shopping center with mismatched license plates. After the car left the parking lot Daley stopped it. A search of the vehicle discovered a sawed-off shotgun in the trunk. This led to the driver, Janie French, 46, of Vallejo and the passenger, Gordon Hall, 46, of Richmond, being arrested. Hall is currently on parole for auto theft. (Isn’t that a non-violent, non-dangerous offense?)

Both men were booked into the Solano County Jail, where I am confident they enjoyed an excellent Christmas dinner. Since Hall will no doubt deny knowledge that the shotgun was in the trunk I fully expect he will be home by New Year. Isn’t parole reform wonderful?
