A VICTORY FOR MURDERERS

Dorina Lisson and the rest of the anti-death penalty crowd must be doing handstands and jumping up and down with joy.

On Wednesday, Democratic governor Pat Quinn signed a bill that abolishes the death penalty in Illinois, citing the risk of executing an innocent person. Quinn also commuted the sentences of all 15 men remaining on death row from death to life in prison.

Robert Berlin, the state’s attorney in DuPage County called it a ‘victory for murderers across Illinois.’

A Gallup Poll in October showed that 64 percent of Americans favored the death penalty for murderers while only 30 percent opposed it. To foreign death penalty abolitionists like Lisson, those Gallup results mean that two-thirds of all Americans are uncivilized.

Quinn’s stroke of the pen is just one more reason why I find it hard to vote for Democrats.
