DEATH PENALTY NEEDED FOR BABY RAPERS

A person who rapes a baby or a little child should not be allowed to exist anywhere on this earth

To me, the rape of a baby is even more heinous than a multiple murder. If we can justify the death penalty for murder - and I strongly support capital punishment - then we and the Supreme Court should be able to justify the ultimate punishment for the rape of a child 6-years-old or younger.

Years ago, when the Supreme Court outlawed the death penalty for rape, I am sure the Justices never took into consideration the rape of a baby or young child. Had they done so, Derek Wilson would now be on his way to death row instead of 45 years in prison.

A Houston Chronicle reader wrote: “I wish they would bring back the electric chair and set it on slow burn for these individuals.” Not a bad idea!

FORT WORTH — A 40-year-old Hurst man was sentenced to 45 years in prison on Thursday for sexually assaulting a baby.

A jury took about 30 minutes to convict Derek Wryan Wilson of sexually assaulting a child under 6, according to a news release from the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.

Jurors then sentenced him to the prison term and fined him $10,000. The charge does not include possibility of parole.

The jury concluded that Wilson used his fingers to penetrate a 10-week-old girl’s vagina. In July, the baby’s grandmother heard the child crying in pain and told authorities that she found Wilson, her daughter’s boyfriend, holding the child.

After the infant’s mother came home the two women took the child to Cook Children’s Medical Center after seeing blood in the child’s diaper, the news release said.

Medical personnel found a large tear and bruising in the baby’s genital area. One doctor testified that the infant was the youngest sexual abuse victim she had seen during 22 years of practice.

When police questioned Wilson, he initially denied doing anything but later said it was an accident and finally confessed that he put his finger inside her because he was curious about her anatomy and wanted to know what it felt like, prosecutors said.

The case was prosecuted by Kelly Meador and Eric Nickols in state District Judge Scott Wisch’s court. The victim is believed to be the youngest ever encountered by the district attorney’s office, the news release stated.
