LIFER ATTEMPTS THIRD ESCAPE FROM S. C. MAX FACILITY

by Bob Walsh

David Rollings Cauthen, 54, is a guest of the people of South Carolina. He is doing life at the Perry Correctional Institution in Greeville County.

He was noted to be missing on Sunday and was found, apparently still on the grounds, hiding under a storage container at a construction area. He attempted to escape back in 2016 and again in 2018. He has gotten disciplinaries for, among other things, possession of cell phones and escape paraphernalia.

The Greeville County facility is one of four maximum custody facilities operated by South Carolina. I guess they work. He didn't escape any of the three times he tried.

Planning, Planning and more planning. Always make the attempt right after the count because that gives additional time until the next count doesn't clear. Then and additional half hour to complete another count minus 1.
