Daniel Collins has just been confirmed to a seat on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals by a strict party-line vote of 53-46. Collins is unusual on the Ninth Circuit in that he has actually read the Constitution on occasion and believes that judges should interpret the law rather than legislate from the bench, which is pretty radical.
Collins clerked for Anton Scalia. Back in 1966 he wrote a law review piece calling for a reversal of Miranda.
Trump has another Ninth Circuit nominee, Daniel Bress, coming up later this week.
