A retired Massachusetts detective fatally shot his wife in the head and then staged her murder as a suicide - so he could be with his lover and retain his pension, according to prosecutors.
Brian Fanion, formerly with the Westfield Police Department, is charged in the May 2018 killing of his wife Amy Fanion. The 55-year-old former detective is said to have Googled household poisons, gunshot residue and ways to keep a pension amid a divorce in the days leading up to his wife murder.
Fanion's lawyer, Jeffrey Brown, claims that his client never had an affair and that Amy was suffering from anxiety.
