OK,
that is a SLIGHT exaggeration, but only slight.  The California drought
and many fires has put a serious dent in the barley supply.  As anybody
with any education knows, barley is one of the three essential
ingredients to BEER.
Contrary
to what your 6th grade teacher told you, agriculture did not develop to
supply grain for bread.  It developed to support the brewing of beer.
The oldest form of alphabetic writing, Cuneiform, was developed in
Babylonia to aid and track the production of beer.  (They know this
because Cuneiform was written with reeds into clay tablets.  Many
fragments of these tablets still exist.  About 75% of them are concerned
with making, buying, selling and transporting beer.  The production of
beer is older than the baking of bread.
Now,
all this means is that your favorite CA production beers or craft beers
may be harder to get and more expensive.  That isn't the END of the
world, but it may be a precursor.

Whew! Miller Lite doesn't fit into that Crap Beer scenario.
