Fires are shown burning across Canada in this June 28, 2023 map created by NASA and the Fire Information for Resource Management System US/Canada
Things are getting really nasty north of the border.
Yellowknife, the capitol of the Northwest Territories, is being
evacuated. About 15,000 people drove out and about 4,000 left the city
on emergency evac flights in less than 20 hours. There is serious fear
that the city will be destroyed. Right now there is one grocery store
and one pharmacy open in the city. No gas stations. The only people
left are emergency personnel and a few die-hard idiots.
The entire province of British Columbia is under a state of emergency.
In this calendar year there have been 5,700 fires which have burnt 53,000 square miles.
