ANOTHER VICTORY IN THE WAR ON DRUGS
Over nine MILLION lethal doses of fentanyl seized in San Francisco operation
Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has announced the results of a major operation that spanned a 10-block radius in San Francisco's tenderloin district.
According to Governor Gavin Newsom, the amount of fentanyl seized in the operation is equal to 9.6 million lethal doses.
Additionally, CHP issued 6,044 citations, which ultimately lead to 496 arrests. Fifteen firearms were also recovered.
In a statement, Newsom said, "These results are a testament to the
effective collaboration among state, local, and federal law enforcement
in San Francisco. We will continue to work together to get drugs off our
streets, address crime, and make our communities safer."
This operation was reportedly started a year ago, when the State of
California first began a public safety partnership with the city. Newsom
also claimed that in the first quarter of 2024, property crime has
decreased 32% and violent crime is down 14%.
