EHUD THE IDIOT CALLS ON THE STATE OF ISRAEL TO COMMIT SUICIDE

Ehud the Idiot is at it again. Under investigation in multiple corruption cases, the discredited caretaker prime minister has called on the State of Israel to commit suicide. Previously, Ehud Olmert's inept leadership during the armed conflict in Lebanon weakened Israel and strengthened Hezbollah. Then he freed Samir Kantar, a Palestinian terrorist who was serving a 542-year sentence for the 1979 brutal murders of two men and a four-year-old girl, in exchange for the return of two dead Isaeli soldiers.

And now he wants Israel to give up "almost all" of the occupied West Bank and to give part of Jerusalem to the Palestinians. Here is what the idiot told the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharanot: "The decision we are going to have to make is a decision we have been refusing for 40 years to look at open-eyed. Israel must withdraw from the lion's share of the territories. The time has come to say these things. The time has come to put them (the withdrawal from the West Bank and the division of Jerusalem) on the table."

Ehud the Idiot believes that Israel must take advantage of a "rapidly closing window of opportunity" for peace with the Palestinians by making these suicidal concessions. What part of the Palestinian leadership's repeated vows to destroy the State of Israel doesn't Olmert understand? His term as prime minister has been a disaster for Israel. Here is what columnist Charles Krauthammer had to say about Ehud the Idiot's role in the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict:

"Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has provided unsteady and uncertain leadership. Foolishly relying on air power alone, he denied his generals the ground offensive they wanted, only to reverse himself later. He has allowed his war Cabinet meetings to become fully public through the kind of leaks no serious wartime leadership would ever countenance. ......... His search for victory on the cheap has jeopardized not just the Lebanon operation, but America's confidence in Israel as well. That confidence - and the relationship it reinforces - is as important to Israel's survival as its own army. The tremulous Olmert seems not to have a clue."

There is no question that Israel must give up much, but most certainly not "almost all" of the West Bank. In order to survive an enemy whose leaders swear to annihilate it, Israel must have borders that it can defend. That requires it to be more than only nine miles wide, which it now is at its narrowest point. It must retain those parts of the West Bank which contain Jewish settlements built with permanent housing. Every one of those settlements must remain within the final boundaries of Israel, rather than abandoned as demanded by the Arabs.

The Jewish State must also retain access to the Jordan River, its water being Israel's life-blood. It must keep most of the Golan Heights so that it can defend itself better from a possible attack by the Syrians. And, most certainly, Israel cannot give up East Jerusalem which would, under control of the Palestinians, be a dagger pointed at the heart of the Jewish State. Israel can only survive if it is armed to the teeth with secure and defensible borders.

I'm afraid that if Tzipi Livni succeeds in assembling a new government, her footsteps will follow the same suicidal path travelled by her clueless predecessor, Ehud the Idiot. I hope she will fail in her search for a majority coalition. Then Israel will have to hold a new election, an election which Benjamin Netanyahu is favored to win. Israel deserves better than a carbon copy of Ehud the Idiot. Unlike Olmert and Livni, Bibi Netanyahu will never agree to concessions that will doom Israel's survival as a Jewish state.
