John J. Reilly III, 48, of Chester, N.Y., is in pretty
serious trouble. Friday evening he interacted with a Door Dash driver
named Asher who had gotten lost and was looking for directions. Reilly
ordered him off of his property, and then fired on him AS HE WAS LEAVING
THE PROPERTY, shooting him in the back. Asher managed to drive himself
away and got medical help. He is very likely to make a full recovery.
The
state police arrested Reilly on a ton of charges and may face hate
crimes charges. I am GUESSING that Reilly is White and Asher is not.
Asher is a recent immigrant from West Africa.
Reilly
holds an elected position as the Orange County Highway Superintendent.
He also holds a federal firearms license. He is currently a guest of
the people of Orange County, NY, pending him coming up with $750,000
bail.
