There is a very competent and well-funded mandatory voter ID ballot proposition being prepared for the formerly great state of California. Polling indicates that over 60% of the voters in CA, some of who are actual citizens, favor the concept. The proposal, which is still in it's formative stage, would also get rid of a lot of mail ballots. CA has had an "at your request, no justification needed" absentee ballot program for a long time (I am one of those myself) and has, for some time, mailed out ballots to everybody on the voter roll. Also the state pushes voter registration in many venues, including the DMV, where illegal aliens are given drivers licenses with no problem. The system depends on them to voluntarily NOT register to vote. Trouble is the automated system really pushes it and you have to be persistent to opt out. I suspect many illegal aliens do not want to stand out that much. (I could be wrong.)
