THE BRASS AT ONE POLICE PLAZA WAS INSTRUCTED BY MAYOR DE BLASIO TO KEEP HANDS-OFF THE BLM PROTESTERS

NYPD detective on quitting, kneeling and the ‘demise of the city’

By Tina Moore

New York Post

June 27, 2020

An NYPD detective set to retire soon with 20 years under his belt tells The Post’s Police Bureau Chief Tina Moore why he is leaving the job he once loved — and why he fears the worst is yet to come for the Big Apple.

I could have stayed a little longer.

I haven’t been happy with the job for the last two or three years, but now it’s gotten to the point where it’s just absolutely ridiculous.

I can only speak for the Bronx, because I’ve worked in the Bronx my whole career.

And what’s going on with the DA’s office, and the bail reforms…the absolute absence of backing the cops coming from, you know, from City Hall down.
It’s really bad.

It’s a lot more difficult for the cops who have a lot of time on when things were a lot different to see what it’s become. I think it’s a lot more difficult for them than it is for the younger cops, who are walking into this now, and are getting groomed from the academy, as to what the job is now.

Yes, New York is a protest kind of town.

But it’s the manner in which the [George Floyd] protests took place, and how the brass was instructed to pretty much have hands-off on the protesters. That should never have been done.

The cops were pretty much sitting ducks.

They couldn’t defend themselves, because there was so many cameras on them and the public was just waiting for them to react. And the frontline bosses, like the sergeants and the lieutenants, were in a really bad position because they were there as leadership and they were the more visible leadership where the brass from One Police Plaza was not visible. And they were actually giving the orders.

I think the kneeling was the white flag.

The kneeling eliminated what little hope the cops had.

I think the kneeling sacrificed the cops.

What little expectation of authority the cops felt they had they lost it right there.

Leadership? A police commissioner is a figurehead. All orders are being set out by the mayor. All policy is being set out by the mayor, and the mayor has absolutely no idea what policing is especially in the forgotten neighborhoods like the South Bronx.

I don’t think the mayor has a concept of what happens on South Bronx streets. I think the mayor should take six months of nights and suit up and go out with the guys, in the precincts like the 40, 41, the 42, the 44, the 46. He thinks policing is what goes on in Manhattan. That’s not policing.

Now, they’re getting rid of a lot of guys a lot of plainclothes positions.

That is going to be the demise of the city.

Anti-crime guys are the guys are the guys who the real bad guys are looking out for. Anti-crime guys are going to drive around in not just unmarked cars. They’ll come around in other cars, rentals that the city gets that you wouldn’t think are police cars.

When you’re a really bad guy, and I’m talking about really bad guys, who won’t think twice about taking another life. When they step out of the car, those were the cops who they are afraid of.

These guys have one job and one job only. That’s what they trained for and that’s what they do over and over and over and over — look for guns, spot guns. It’s a sixth sense.

And they’re responsible for taking guns off he streets.

All these shootings going on? It’s because people are out there carrying guns freely now — without fear.

ONCE AGAIN, FUCK THE UN AND THE EU

U.N. rights expert urges EU to punish any Israeli annexation in West Bank

By Robin Emmott

BRUSSELS -- A U.N. human rights investigator urged the European Union on Friday to consider measures to prevent or punish any Israeli annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, a few days after over 1,000 European lawmakers made a similar call.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres added his voice to the matter on Wednesday, calling on Israel to abandon annexations of settlements in the West Bank, warning this threatened any chance of negotiated peace with the Palestinians who seek statehood in the territory.

Friday’s statement by Michael Lynk, U.N. special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, said the EU should back up its warnings against Israeli plans with “a decisive menu of counter-measures.”

That was a reference to possible economic, trade or other sanctions. The EU has said annexation must not go unchallenged.

Six years after the last round of peace talks with Palestinians collapsed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set July 1 as the date for the start of cabinet discussions on moving forward on annexation.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the region envisages Israel incorporating most of its settlements in the West Bank into “contiguous Israel territory”, and Palestinian statehood elsewhere under strict conditions.

Trump has also offered U.S. recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the fertile Jordan Valley along the eastern flank of the West Bank, which was captured in the 1967 Middle East war and is claimed by Palestinians for a future state.
Palestinians see annexations as an illegal land grab.

On June 23, European lawmakers called for “commensurate consequences” if Israel, which has more than 400,000 settlers in the West Bank, went ahead with annexation.

“We have reached a point where resolutions without resolve can no longer contribute to reaching the just and durable peace and human security that Palestinians and Israelis deserve,” Lynk said.

However, internal documents and Reuters interviews with more than two dozen diplomats and officials show there is no clear EU strategy on how to stop Israel’s plan or how to respond in a meaningful way if annexation goes ahead.

The United Nations Security Council has said settlements violate international law. Israel disputes this, citing biblical, historical and political connections to the land.

ROGER GOODELL AND THE NFL OWNERS ARE TOO STUPID TO REALIZE WHAT THE NFL PLAERS ARE DOING WHEN THEY TAKE A KNEE DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

The NFL players are kneeling on the graves of all the American soldiers who throughout history gave their lives so that these ungrateful assholes can disrespect flag and country

By Howie Katz

Big Jolly Times
June 27, 2020

In line with the nationwide protests over the killing of George Floyd, NFL commissioner Roger Gooell joined in by releasing a statement on June 5 which said:

“We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest.  It has been a difficult time for our country. In particular, black people in our country. First, my condolences to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the families who have endured police brutality.”

In other words, Colin Kaepernick and the other NFL players were right in taking a knee during the national anthem and will from now on be officially permitted too do so.  And Goodell's statement is a dog whistle for welcoming Kaepernick back into the NFL.

“And all the families who have endured police brutality.”  What about all the families of police officers who are being shot on a daily basis?  The majority of cop killings have been perpetrated by black men.  Apparently black lives matter more to Goodell than blue lives.

“It has been a difficult time for our country. In particular, black people in our country.”  Oh yeah!  It's also been a difficult time for many store owners, both black and white, who have seen their businesses looted and burned to the ground.  It's also been bad time for the police who have been attacked with bottles, bricks and Molotov cocktails, and have been demonized daily in the media.

It' also been a particularly difficult time for historical statues which are being torn down all over the country, including statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

And what about that poor mistreated Kaepernick?  When the riots broke out in Minneapolis, he called for a revolution.  He tweeted "When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction.  The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance."  He called the looters, arsonists and police attackers "freedom fighters" and set up a fund to pay their legal expenses.

Instead of condemning Kaepernick for advocating a violent insurrection and providing lawyers to his freedom fighters who are arrested for looting, arson and attacking the police, Goodell has now joined the jerks who hail the police-hating asshole as a hero.

Then there is Black Lives Matter.  Columnist Caroline B. Glick reports that BLM's charter itself is structurally anti-Semitic and that on May 30, members of Black Lives Matter carried out a riot in Fairfax, the oldest Jewish community in Los Angeles, by vandalizing five synagogues and three Jewish schools.  While they were looting most of the Jewish businesses on Fairfax Avenue, the BLM mobs kept shouting, "Fuck the police and kill the Jews."  The media has deliberately refused to mention BLM's anti-Semitic charter and ignored the vandalism ot the synagogues in Fairfax.

"Kill the Jews": That's also what the Al Sharpton-led mobs kept shouting during the 1991 Crown Heights riot in Brooklyn.

Furthermore, BLM's roots are in Marxism and domestic terrorism.  BLM's co-founder Patrisse Cullors boasts about being a Marxist and credits Eric Mann as being her mentor  for over  a decade.  Mann was a member of the Weather Underground, the domestic terrorism group which bombed government buildings and police stations in the 1960s and 1970s.  Thus, Cullors founded BLM to overthrow the government rather than to care about black lives.  That explains why BLM does not concern itself with the daily black on black killings in our urban centers.

"Fuck the police."  Th media keeps cherry picking stories about the mistreatment and killings of blacks by white cops.  Some of those killings have been clearly unjustified.  But let's put those unjustified tragedies in their proper perspective.  There are some 800,000 law enforcement officers in the U.S.  Each and every day these officers have thousands of encounters with people.  And almost all of those encounters by white cops with black people are uneventful.

Nevertheless, the media keeps demonizing the police by broad brushing cops as racists and murderers of black men.  And Goodell's statement shows that the NFL commissioner is joining right in with the demonizing.

It sure looks like Roger Goodell supports Kaepernick's freedom fighters, BLM's anti-Semitism and the tearing down of the Washington and Jefferson statues, while disregarding the killing of police officers.

When it comes to taking the knee, Roger Goodell and the NFL owners are too stupid to realize what the NFL players are doing when they take a knee during the national anthem.  The NFL players are kneeling on the graves of all the American soldiers who throughout history gave their lives so that these ungrateful assholes can disrespect flag and country.

Fuck the police? Hell no! Fuck the NFL and BLM instead!

38-YEAR OLD COLD CASE SOLVED BY DNA

Ohio police say cold case murder of 8-year-old girl solved with DNA, genetic genealogy

By Robert Gearty

Fox News

June 26, 2020

An 8-year-old Ohio girl was raped and killed nearly 38 years ago by a convicted pedophile who has been dead for more than two decades, police said Friday.

The cold case murder of Kelly Ann Prosser was solved using DNA and genetic genealogy, Columbus police said.

She was beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled after being abducted in 1982 on her way home from school.

Police announced at a news conference that her abducter was Harold Warren Jarrell. He died in 1996 in Las Vegas when he was 67.

Jarrell was convicted in 1977 of a sex crime involving a child in Columbus and served about five years in prison, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

His name never came up as serious suspect or person of interest in Kelly Ann's murder, according to the paper.

At the time of the homicide, a detective was curious as to whether Jarrell could have been involved, but there was no evidence at the time indicating his possible involvement, Deputy Police Chief Gregory Bodker told the paper.

“All of these years of this case being open and numerous detectives working on it, it is satisfying to let the family know what happened to their little girl though it doesn’t bring her back, Cold Case Unit Detective Dana Croom said, according to Fox 28 Columbus.

“There are cases that stick with detectives forever and this is one of those for all of us,” the detective said.

The station reported obtaining a statement from Kelly Ann’s family: “Gentlemen, thank you for never giving up, thank you for never forgetting about this innocent child, and thank you for never forgetting that you were working for Kelly Ann.”

DNA and genetic genealogy have cracked dozens of other cold case rapes and murders around the country over the past two years.

Washington state murder victim, 17, ID'd after nearly 43 years, police say

By David Aaro

Fox News

June 26, 2020

Precious Jane Doe, a woman murdered in Washington state in 1977, has been identified with the help of DNA and genetic genealogy, authorities said.

The victim is now known to have been 17-year-old Elizabeth "Lisa" Ann Roberts, Q13 FOX of Seattle reported.

The determination was made nearly 43 years after her death, by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Cold Case Team, and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.

"The DNA used for the identification was obtained from Lisa’s hair using a new scientific technique developed by Dr. Ed Green, a scientist of ancient DNA and paleogenomics," the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said in statement. "This new technique, previously thought to be impossible, enables DNA-based forensics from rootless hair and other difficult sources."

Authorities said Roberts was born Elizabeth Ann Elder in Hood River, Ore., in 1959 and adopted at age 2. On July 25, 1977, her father reported Roberts as a runaway, and she was murdered 15 days later.

During the murder investigation in 1977, police said Roberts was picked up by David Roth, then 20, who asked her for sex. When she declined, Roth strangled her and shot her seven times in the head, leaving her body unrecognizable. She carried no purse and no driver’s license, according to The Everett Herald. Her body was left to decompose in the summer heat for five days before it was found by residents picking blackberries.

A composite sketch was drawn at the time, but no one could identify her. For an unknown reason, Roberts was also no longer listed as missing in the National Crime Information Center, police said. Roth later confessed to the murder and was sentenced to 26 years in prison. He reportedly failed to ask what her name was.

“You pick up a stranger, a hitchhiker, she’s not going to tell you her name. You’re not trying to get personal,” Roth told The Daily Herald in 2008 after he was released from prison. “She didn’t ask me my name.”

Efforts to uncover her identity began again in 2008, with investigators exhuming her remains from a local cemetery. A medical examiner determined she was a teenage girl, which differed from previous assumptions she was 25-35, police said.

Snohomish County Detective Jim Scharf -- who worked on the case for 12 years -- nicknamed her Precious Jane Doe.

“This young girl was precious to me because her moral decision from her proper upbringing cost her, her life,” Scharf said. “I knew she had to be precious to her family too, so I had to find them. We needed to give her name back to her and return her remains to her family.”

Through genetic genealogy, investigators were also able to build a family tree to identify the biological parent, and they found a biological half-brother to match his DNA with her maternal DNA profile, the department added. Adoption records were then acquired from the Oregon Health Authority.

The health authority called Sharf on June 16 to say they had made a positive identification, Q13 FOX reported.

“It was kind of hard to believe,” said Scharf, who also pioneered the new field of forensic genealogy from the law enforcement side, according to the paper. “I always have that feeling, it’s like, ‘This is like magic, how do you come up with this information?’ And it’s always correct. It’s the best tool in the world. If you can get DNA on a case, it’s always solvable now.”

Scharf reportedly contacted her family after learning of her identity and that she went by the name “Lisa."

“I looked up to Lisa as my big sister, who would spend time with me and play with me downstairs," said her younger sister Tonya. "We had a really good bond because we were both adopted.”

Police said a memorial service for Roberts was being arranged and she's set to be buried at a family plot in Oregon.

“I am so proud and so thankful for the incredible work and dedication by Detective Jim Scharf and all of our partners and investigators who made this possible,” said Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney, according to the statement.

“For years Detective Scharf has had Precious Jane Doe’s story linked in his email signature trying to identify her. Although it wasn’t the answer anyone wished for, Precious Jane Doe finally has her name back, and she can now be returned to her family and loved ones.”

NOT TO BE OUTDONE, PRINSTON JOINS IN THE MADNESS

Princeton removes Woodrow Wilson's name from school, citing his 'racist thinking and policies'

By Jordan Muller

Politico

Princeton University on Saturday announced it will remove former President Woodrow Wilson’s name from its public and international affairs school in the wake of nationwide protests against racism and police brutality.

“The trustees concluded that Woodrow Wilson’s racist thinking and policies make him an inappropriate namesake for a school or college whose scholars, students, and alumni must stand firmly against racism in all its forms,” said Christopher L. Eisgruber, Princeton’s president, in a statement Saturday.

Students had long called for the removal of the 28th president’s name from Princeton’s public affairs school. The Ivy League college’s board of trustees considered nixing Wilson’s name after student protests in 2015, Eisgruber said. But the recent killings of Black men and women prompted Princeton’s board to vote to remove Wilson’s name on Friday, he added.

Wilson, a Democrat who led Princeton in the early 1900s and served as U.S. president between 1913 and 1921, publicly advocated for and implemented racist policies, including resegregating federal government workers after they had been integrated for decades.

“Wilson’s racism was significant and consequential even by the standards of his own time,” Eisgruber said.

Princeton is the latest college to drop the name of a racist figure from a campus building or college in the wake of nationwide protests over racism.

The University of Southern California in mid-June scrubbed the name of Rufus B. von KleinSmid, a eugenics advocate, from its public affairs school. Last week, Monmouth University said it would remove Wilson’s name from a prominent campus building. And on Tuesday, the University of Oregon announced it would rename a building dedicated to a white settler who helped ban Black people from the Oregon territory.

The removal of Wilson’s name also comes as the country faces questions over memorials to Confederate generals, colonial figures and racist politicians. The Army is considering scrubbing the names of Confederate leaders from bases, and protesters have torn down monuments celebrating Confederates, slave owners and colonizers.

President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order calling on the Justice Department to prioritize jailing demonstrators who damage federal monuments.

Princeton is also fast-tracking the removal of Wilson's name from a residential college, Eisgruber said Saturday.

FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERS RELEASE OC MIGRANT CHILDREN DETAINED BY ICE

Judge orders U.S. to release migrant children from family detention centers

Associated Press

June 26, 2020

A federal judge on Friday ordered the release of children held with their parents in U.S. immigration jails and denounced the Trump administration’s prolonged detention of families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee’s order applies to children held for more than 20 days at three family detention centers in Texas and Pennsylvania operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Some have been detained since last year.

Citing the recent spread of the coronavirus in two of the three facilities, Gee set a deadline of July 17 for children to either be released with their parents or sent to family sponsors.

The family detention centers “are ‘on fire’ and there is no more time for half measures,” she wrote.

Gee’s order said ICE was detaining 124 children in its centers, which are separate from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services facilities for unaccompanied children that were holding around 1,000 children in early June. The numbers in both systems have fallen significantly since earlier in the Trump administration because the U.S. is expelling most people trying to cross the border or requiring them to wait for their immigration cases in Mexico.

Gee oversees a long-running court settlement governing the United States’ treatment of immigrant children, known as the Flores agreement. Her order does not directly apply to the parents detained with their children.

Gee’s order says ICE can decline to release a child if there is not a suitable sponsor, the child’s parent waives rights under the Flores agreement, or if there is a “prior unexplained failure to appear at a scheduled hearing.”

ICE did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

But most parents last month refused to designate a sponsor when ICE officials unexpectedly asked them who could take their children if the adults remained detained, according to lawyers for the families. The agency said then it was conducting a “routine parole review consistent with the law” and Gee’s previous orders.

Advocates contend that ICE should release all families from detention especially as the coronavirus has spread rapidly through immigration detention facilities. In court filings revealed Thursday, ICE said 11 children and parents have tested positive for COVID-19 at the family detention center in Karnes City, Texas.

At the detention center in nearby Dilley, at least three parents and children — including a child who turned 2 this week — were placed in isolation after two private contractors and an ICE official tested positive for the virus.

Amy Maldonado, an attorney who works with detained families, said Gee “clearly recognized that the government is not willing to protect the health and safety of the children, which is their obligation.”

“They need to make the sensible choice and release the parents to care for their children,” she said of the government.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death. The vast majority of people recover.

More than 2,500 people in ICE custody have tested positive for COVID-19. The agency says it has released at least 900 people considered to have heightened medical risk and reduced the populations at its three family detention centers. But in court filings last month, ICE said it considered most of the people in family detention to be flight risks because they had pending deportation orders or cases under review.

THERE'S NO FOOL LIKE AN OLD DRUG MULE

American jailed in Spain was unwitting drug mule, US Justice Department says

By Eric Tucker

Associated Press

June 27, 2020

WASHINGTON — Victor Stemberger wasn't about to ignore the emails inviting him into a multimillion-dollar business opportunity, so he pitched himself as perfect for the job. In a way he was — but for all the wrong reasons.

The 76-year-old Virginia man, whose family says he has cognitive issues, accepted the offer and boasted of his credentials as "an experienced businessman who does what he says he will do, and executes flawlessly, according to plan."

He apparently did follow the plan, but the execution wasn't flawless.

Today Stemberger sits in a Spanish jail, one year after flying into the country with more than 5 pounds of cocaine expertly sewn into bubble jackets in a bag. His family says he knew nothing about the drugs. Though Spanish authorities are dubious, the U.S. Justice Department has advised Spain that it believes Stemberger was duped into acting as a drug mule for a West Africa criminal network, and has asked the country for evidence it has gathered, according to correspondence obtained by The Associated Press.

Federal officials have for years warned about scams that lure elderly Americans or those with diminished mental capacity — Stemberger had a significant brain injury nearly 15 years ago — into becoming drug couriers. The scams convince them that they'll receive payouts if they travel or take some other requested action. The Department of Homeland Security in 2016 said immigration and border authorities had intercepted more than 140 unwitting couriers, some as old as 87, and that over 30 were believed to still be jailed.

"One of the common characteristics that we find in these scams is that oftentimes the senior is living alone, has lost a spouse and is lonely," said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who leads the Senate Special Committee on Aging and helped secure the release of a Maine man jailed in Spain under similar circumstances as Stemberger.

Stemberger, who marks his one-year anniversary in Spanish detention on July 5, faces a trial next month in Madrid. His son says the only explanation for his father's actions is that "these perpetrators really connected with our dad under the veil of what he thought was a legitimate business opportunity."

"With his diminished mental state, he became the perfect victim of a crime syndicate just like this," Vic Stemberger said.

A spokesman for the Madrid judiciary, who agreed to discuss the case only on condition of anonymity, said Stemberger told authorities he had planned to deliver the jackets to United Nations officials in Asia and he didn't know they contained drugs. Officials did not consider the narrative plausible and sought to have him jailed before trial rather than let him return to the U.S., the spokesman said.

Prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence for Stemberger, whose Spanish lawyer, Juan Ospina, said he plans to argue that there was no way Stemberger could have noticed the extra weight of the drugs because they were cleverly distributed among the jackets.

"It's a pity that it's always the mules that are being snatched, the lowest in the scale of a criminal organization. They are the easiest, weakest target, but there is rarely a police investigation, deep and rigorous, targeting the original sin," Ospina said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecutors from the Southern District of New York are investigating whether his contacts were part of a West Africa network of money launderers, fraudsters and drug traffickers under scrutiny for scheming the elderly and feeble, according to a Justice Department document sent to Spain in October. It also seeks permission to interview Stemberger, as well as copies of investigative documents and Spain's help in investigating the network.

The case began in March 2018 with an email from someone purporting to be a financial consultant with Nigeria's Ministry of Finance, inviting Stemberger, of Centreville, Va., into a business opportunity that carried the prospect of a lucrative payout. The job entailed traveling abroad to deliver gifts and documents to officials, with a goal of recovering funds that were misallocated.

A flurry of emails and phone calls continued over the next year and a half, but Stemberger concealed the details from his family. He even traveled to South America and Hong Kong when his wife thought he was in Chicago.

"He certainly knew that talking to these folks internationally could be possibly something that our family would question," said Vic Stemberger. "We just never had an opportunity to intervene."

Emails reviewed by AP show Stemberger at times sought reassurance the project was legitimate but also portrayed himself as game for it, saying he could travel provided his expenses were covered "and we have a clear plan in place before I depart."

A Justice Department attorney told Spanish authorities the emails show Stemberger concerned about being defrauded, undergoing uncomfortable travel conditions and having to pay for travel. But, wrote attorney Jason Carter, "There are no communications reflecting that Stemberger believed or suspected that he would assist in trafficking controlled substances."

Retired DEA agent Robert Zachariasiewicz, whose investigative firm has worked on the case, said the 161 pages of emails he's reviewed make clear that "he's completely unwitting."

"It was very hard to read, quite honestly, because it tells a sad tale in and of itself," he added.

A Vietnam veteran with two master's degrees, Stemberger specialized in corporate executive coaching and prided himself on being a savvy businessman, his son said. But he hasn't been the same since a 2006 brain aneurysm left him with impairments in judgment and critical thinking.

Last July, he traveled to Brazil on a trip that was to take him to Spain and on to Asia. His contacts told him the officials he was supposed to be meet with would be visiting his Sao Paolo hotel room to help transfer gifts into luggage.

Stemberger reassured his son over email the work was legitimate: "Gifts referred to in the message are standard protocol for dealing with government officials in this part of the world. No contraband — be sure of that."

He was arrested the next day after arriving in Madrid.

As his family works to prove his innocence, even Stemberger, who passed his 50th wedding anniversary in jail, has come around to the idea that he was roped into a fraud, his son said.

The younger Stemberger said he understands how extraordinary the saga may sound, joking that if every drug dealer used his father's defense, no one would be in jail.

But, he said, his father was unquestionably duped.

"There was never any attempt to commit a crime," he said.

'IT'S AN ALL-OUT WAR ON COPS AND WE HAVE NO SUPPORT'

272 uniformed NYPD cops file for retirement after George Floyd death

By Dean Balsamini

New York Post

June 27, 2020

Cops are hanging up their handcuffs in huge numbers.

The flurry of Finest farewells began after the police-involved killing of George Floyd on May 25, with 272 uniformed cops putting in retirement papers from then through June 24, the NYPD says.

That’s a 49 percent spike from the 183 officers who filed during the same period last year, according to the department.

An NYPD source suggested the recent departures could signal a coming crisis for the 36,000-member department, which also faces a $1 billion budget reduction amid the “defund the police”  furor.

“We are worried about a surge in attrition reducing our headcount beyond what we can sustain without new recruits, and are afraid the City Council has not taken the surge into account,” he said.

Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch said cops are “at their breaking point, whether they have 20 years on the job or only two. We are all asking the same question: ‘How can we keep doing our job in this environment?’ And that is exactly what the anti-cop crowd wants. If we have no cops because no one wants to be a cop, they will have achieved their ultimate goal.”

Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, said an “exodus” from the NYPD has begun. He said nearly 80 of his members have recently filed for retirement, and that morale is “at the lowest levels I’ve seen in 38 years.”

The fiery union leader added, “People have had enough and no longer feel it’s worth risking their personal well-being for a thankless position.”

“There is no leadership, no direction, no training for new policies,” he said. “Department brass is paralyzed (and) too afraid to uphold their sworn oath in fear of losing their jobs. Sadly, the people of this city will soon experience what New York City was like in the 1980s.”

Outrage over Floyd’s death sparked nationwide protests, and some NYPD officers see themselves as collateral damage.

“It’s an all-out war on cops and we have no support,” said one veteran Brooklyn cop, who is retiring next month. “I wanted to wait for my 30th anniversary in October, but the handwriting is on the wall.”

Many men and women in blue are fed up, feeling targeted and frustrated that they are expected to fight crime with fewer tools than ever, while getting no backing from politicians, injured in protests, and constantly scrutinized, according to agitated officers and angry police unions.

The weary rank and file also wonder if one bad decision on the job could get them arrested and charged with a crime.

“If you have your time in and have an opportunity to do something else, get out while you can,” advised Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan.

Giacalone said he’d received three emails in “the past week or so” from students asking for advice about changing their career choice. Giacalone said he has not gotten “these kinds” of emails since the Michael Brown killing in Ferguson, Missouri, in August 2014.

He said he “never discourages anyone” about the job, he just “lays out the pros and cons” and also reminds students there are federal law enforcement jobs.

On Thursday, The Post exclusively reported that Bronx NYPD precinct commander Richard Brea is quitting to protest the department’s handling of police reform and anti-brutality protests. The Deputy Inspector, who led the Bronx’s 46th Precinct, will retire after nearly three decades on the force.

NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice, founder of Blue Lives Matter, which formed after NYPD officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were assassinated in 2014 , claims close to a dozen cops per day are putting in their papers. Imperatrice believes the number is “noticeably higher” than usual and due to the “anti-police and anti-criminal accountability” climate.

Imperatrice contends the number of cops leaving the job since the end of March is “approaching the 700 to 1,000 range between COVID and the anti-police narrative.”

“I feel sorry for the cops who just began their career and have 20 years to go,” Imperatrice said. “Morale across the nation for anybody who puts on that uniform is at an all-time low … Officers are showing up to work putting on their uniform and within a few days thereafter being put into handcuffs.”

He said one “fed-up” Manhattan detective, a 22-year-veteran with a wife and kids, is just waiting to hear back about a new job and then he’s putting in his papers and moving to Arizona. He believes the city is “going down the tubes quick and it’s not going to turn around anytime soon.”

Imperatrice said the heartbroken mom of an anti-crime unit cop killed in the line of duty recently contacted him, “beside herself” because the NYPD disbanded the unit and thus “disbanded the legacy of her son.”

“The politicians are spitting in the faces of families of cops killed in the line of duty and now they’re handing over the keys to the city to these criminals. This is insane,” Imperatrice fumed.

“Of course, if a police officer is acting criminal or abusing their authority, they should be held accountable. But the majority of incidents we are seeing do not warrant officers losing their job and being locked up.”

Said John Jay professor Giacalone: “We are living in the Twilight Zone — where the good guys are the bad guys and the bad guys are the good guys. No bail, no jail, selective prosecution — unless you’re a cop, then game on.

“People have lost their collective minds.”

BRONX PRECINCT COMMANDER IS CHEERED BY HIS COPS IN A FAREWLL CELEBRATION

NYPD commander leaves Bronx precinct for last time after retiring in protest

The NYPD precinct boss who retired in protest this week blasted politicians for wanting to “vilify” cops during a raucous final walk-out celebration at his Bronx stationhouse Friday.

Deputy Inspector Richard Brea rode off in a restored classic police car at about 3 p.m. after the celebration outside the 46th Precinct, which featured an NYPD helicopter fly by and NYPD bagpipers.

In a speech at the ceremony, Brea slammed politicians for not backing police officers amid nationwide protests against police brutality.

“Their blood is in the concrete of every street corner, but these politicians don’t want to remember that. They want to blame and vilify everyone here. I won’t have that. No sir.”

“We have a duty and a responsibility to respect and guide other cops,” he added.
He also showered praise on his fellow officers at his precinct.

“My 46 family, the Alamo, I love you man,” he added, using a nickname for the precinct that covers neighborhoods in the Western Bronx.

After his remarks, he shook hands with his officers and posed for photos as the crowd cheered and clapped for him. He then climbed into the vintage police car rode around and rode shotgun as the driver made a ceremonious trip around the block.

Brea handed in his retirement papers after nearly three decades on the force because department brass were not giving him proper instruction on how to rid the precinct’s Fordham neighborhood of guns and drugs, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa previously told The Post.

Brea had griped that with his anti-crime officers reassigned, he’d been put in the situation of explaining to department brass why arrests in his precinct were down at a CompStat meeting this week.

“I’ll be more than happy to come to CompStat and get a beatdown, but I’m not getting guidance,” Brea allegedly told Sliwa.

Michigan man, 18, is charged with assault for attack on white Macy's employee after cops say there is NO evidence the store manager used the n-word and beating was 'unprovoked'

Daily Mail

June 27, 2020

Damire Palmer, 18, is being charged with felony assault after he was identified as the black man pummeling a white Macy's employee in a viral video filmed in a Michigan store on June 15.

The video was posted on Facebook by his brother Damarquay, who police also wish to speak to but who has not been charged.

Damire is allegedly seen pummeling the employee on the ground, claiming the unidentified man called him the n-word in the middle of a store in Genesee Town Center.

Police announced Friday they had no evidence to suggest the employee used a racial slur but that Palmer carried out the attack unprovoked.

BLM/ANTIFA VIOLENCE IS PRELUDE TO NOVEMBER

Revolution is on the way ... It has been coming for some time, certainly before Trump ever descended that escalator to announce his candidacy

By William L. Gensert

American Thinker
June 26, 2020

Leftists have established by precedent the premise that "mostly peaceful" rioting, arson, assault, and rampant property destruction are not only acceptable, but necessary in order to purge our nation of imagined original sin.

George Floyd was merely a stroke of luck for the left; if it were not for his murder, they would have needed to conjure up another excuse for the studied and deliberate anarchy we are experiencing today.

Having failed at winning the election and then again with their efforts to depose President Trump through investigation and impeachment, Democrats have concluded that revolution is necessary, and one cannot prosecute a revolution without practice.

What we are seeing today is Antifa, the paramilitary arm of the Democratic Party, and BLM, the propaganda arm (in conjunction with mainstream media) of the party, practicing for the "big show."  They understand that their coup failed because their nefarious plot against President Trump was strangled in its crib by a constitution that works when followed.  And they cannot allow that again.

Revolution is the way...

This has been coming for some time, certainly before Trump ever descended that escalator to announce his candidacy.  It is what "cancel culture" is about: stealing agency from anyone who does not toe the line.

The movement to make people apologize to black people for their privilege and for the slavery and bigotry that no country has done more to address and eliminate is a means to create an acceptance culture among people who otherwise might object to the coming revolution.

Forbidding particular statues, wrong words, cultural appropriation, and borrowed slang, are all about establishing boundaries that shall not be crossed to create limits to potential dissent from their incipient rebellion.

People think that the Obama administration's debasing of the constitutional protections afforded to the accused with respect to sexual assault accusations in the nation's colleges was about pursuing justice for the women who should "always be believed."

It was not.  It was a means of getting people to understand that going forward, the left will not allow the presumption of innocence.  And if they can cancel that, they can cancel anything.

It was also a starting point.

It was initially Confederate statues that were overturned, but now it is any statue, because they want us to know that they are in control and we should, as we are doing now, stand down when they try to overthrow the government in November.

It is all a test to see if America will accept the negation of the values inherent in our constitution.  With the slogan "black lives matter," they mean to force us to accept that the aphorism "all men are created equal" is outdated, because black lives are more equal and matter more than any others.

Yet it is not that they care one whit for black lives who perish in unimaginable numbers at the hands of other black lives; what they want is to establish a regime where the people of the United States accept that what they say matters.

Having established the policy, it is a small step to abrogating all of anyone's rights at any time.  All that will be needed to destroy one's constitutional protections is for the left's allies in media to sell it to an uninformed populace as righteous and justified.

After all, who is not anti-rape, anti-racism, and pro-fairness?

The canceling, forced apologies, the looting, and the arson are all part of getting America ready to accept the rebellion the Democrats are planning for post-election.

And the destruction will not be "rebellion" or "revolution"; it will be peaceful protest.

The left acts under the premise that only leftists are right and just.  This false assumption gives them both license and good reason to commit whatever despicable deed they must to eradicate opposing ideas.  And if we have seen anything these last weeks, it is that Democrats have no aversion to using violence to get what they want, because when you believe that you are riding "the arc of history," breaking a few bones and burning down a city bend toward justice — as Barry would say.

The riots, the arson, the defund police movement, assaults of public figures, the canceling of people who drift astray of the left's orthodoxy — all are designed to inure people to the violence that will befall the nation immediately before and after 11/03/20.

We can expect the left to show little mercy, for cancel-culture leftists lack grace when the smell of blood inflames their nostrils.  After all, they are mere victims striking out against oppressors, which we have allowed ourselves to be categorized as by our silence.

Knocked off their feet with the destruction of Chairman Hillary Mao in 2016, they reached into the mire within which they were ensconced to grab whatever excrement they could to throw at the president, and it did not work.

Their "Plan B" is to overthrow the system, and the widespread anarchy and destruction we have seen in recent days is merely prologue as preview.

Should Trump win, there will be widespread calls for negating the election because...this, that, or the other thing was used by the president to steal the election.  That will be the justification for them to unleash the Kraken*.

If Biden wins, they will riot to consolidate their gains and push their agenda.  This will include gun confiscation and destruction of the 1st Amendment — just to start.

Yes, we all know what will happen in November.  We have been witness to the arrogant display of slow-motion revolution for weeks now.

The more frightening question is, how can it be prevented.

*The kraken is a legendary cephalopod-like sea monster of gigantic size in Scandinavian folklore. According to the Norse sagas, the kraken dwells off the coasts of Norway and Greenland and terrorizes nearby sailors.

D.C. STATEHOOD ?

by Bob Walsh

The House of Representatives passed a bill yesterday that would grant statehood to the District of Columbia, which they would name after Frederick Douglas.  There is zero chance the Senate will approve and even if they did it would have no effect as the constitution specifies that the Federal District is NOT a state.  They didn't get the right to vote in presidential elections until the 1960s.

Another waste of time feel-good bill that the base will love but means nothing.

If I remember correctly (and I think I do) when Texas came into the union the act of congress that accomplished that specifically allows Texas to split itself into as many as five separate states with no further approval from Congress.  Might be a good way to get a few more semi-conservative members of the senate.  Just an idea there Howie.

EDITOR'S NOTE: It just goes to show that BLM is taking over the country.

TRUMP ACCOMPLISHMENT

by Bob Walsh

For the first time in 40 years there are no upper level vacancies on the federal bench.  Donald Trump has now appointed 200 federal judges at all levels of the federal judiciary.  Pretty much all of them have read the Constitution at least once and most of them actually believe it means something.  More than you would have been able to say for Hillary and more than you will be able to say for Senile Joe.

SERIOUS BUMMER

So, this clown buys a brand new Lamborghini Huracan Spyder  for about $400,000 (250,000 pounds) and, 20 minutes later while driving along the M-1 in West Yorkshire, the Lambo comes to a screaching stop in the fast lane due to some sort of apparent mechanical failure and is plowed into from behind by a van.  Lambo was totaled.  Nobody seems to much care about the van for some reason.

FUCK THE POLICE AND KILL THE JEWS: AMERICA'S JEWS ARE TOO LIBERAL TO CONDEMN BLM

The silent American Jews: As its charter makes clear, Black Lives Matter itself is structurally anti-Semitic

By Caroline B. Glick

Israel Hayom

June 26, 2020

The silence of the Jews of America in the face of rising anti-Semitism is stunning.

Over the Shavuot festival on May 30, members of Black Lives Matter, (BLM) carried out a pogrom in Fairfax, the oldest Jewish community in Los Angeles, largely populated today by ultra-Orthodox Jews. They vandalized five synagogues and three Jewish schools. Most of the Jewish businesses on Fairfax Avenue were looted.

As Daniel Greenfield reported at Frontpage, Allyson Rowen Taylor, a co-founder of StandWithUs shared an account of the riots in which they chanted, "Fuck the police and kill the Jews."

Aryeh Rosenfeld, whose store was looted, told the Jerusalem Post that when he came to defend his store there were people driving through the streets screaming, "effing Jews," at the Jewish store owners.

Greenfield revealed that the Jews were not incidental victims in a larger night of "anti-racist" rioting by BLM. BLM in Los Angeles is led by outspoken anti-Semites with intimate ties to the virulently anti-Semitic Nation of Islam.

Over the past several years both the BLM-Los Angeles head Melina Abdullah and her daughter Thandiwe Abdullah, who is the co-founder of the BLM Youth Vanguard, have racked up long records of anti-Semitic rants and fawning praise for Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan. Farrakhan who has praised Hitler, recently called Jews "termites," and obsessively rails against Judaism and Jews.

As its charter makes clear, BLM itself is structurally anti-Semitic.

While accusing Israel of committing "genocide," BLM blames Israel for the US war against militant Islam. Its charter states, "The US justifies and advances the global war on terror via its alliance with Israel and is complicit in the genocide taking place against the Palestinian people."

According to the BLM charter, US military aid to Israel is the foundation of America's problems.  Because of US military aid to Israel, BLM alleges, "Every year billions of dollars are funneled from US taxpayers to hundreds of arms corporations, who then wage lobbying campaigns pushing for even more foreign military aid. The results of this policy are twofold: it not only diverts much needed funding from domestic education and social programs, but it makes US citizens complicit in the abuses committed by the Israeli government."

In other words, Israel is the root of America's troubles at home and abroad.

The charter accuses Israel of being an "apartheid state," and supports the anti-Semitic boycott, sanctions and divestment campaign against Israel. It calls for local, state and federal action against Israel. Among other things, BLM demands that the US military budget be cut by 50%, "which will lead to the closure of over 800 US military bases in the US and around the world, and the elimination of the sale of weaponry to violators of human rights, reduces the use and stockpiling of nuclear weapons and return all troops back from the current theaters of war."

So for BLM, anti-Semitism isn't a bug. It is a feature. Hatred of Israel and the Jews is part of its DNA.

This brings us back the pogrom over Shavuot in LA.

Two aspects of the Shavuot pogrom expose the increasingly problematic nature of the relationship between the American Jewish community and the American left.

The first is the media's indifference to anti-Jewish violence. Aside from a few Jewish reporters and Orthodox websites, the Shavuot pogrom was largely ignored. And when it was reported, the deliberately anti-Semitic character of the attacks was either downplayed or ignored altogether.

The media's refusal to cover the pogrom makes clear that most US media outlets have accepted the limits on freedom of speech dictated by the left. Identity politics now dominate the left in America. BLM controls identity politics.

BLM considers Jews oppressors, not victims. So attacking them is not an act of bigotry. Jews – particularly Israeli Jews, Zionist Jews and Jews who dress in ways that identify them as Jews – are fair game. After all, if Zionism is Nazism and apartheid, then Israelis, Zionist Jews and "Jewy" Jews are racists. The graffiti on Beth El synagogue in Fairfax told the tale. "Fuck Israel, Free Palestine," they wrote.

The media's subservience to the identity politics mob was exposed earlier this month by the forced resignation of The New York Times' op-ed editor James Bennet and his deputy for the thought crime of publishing an op-ed by Senator Tom Cotton calling for the riots to be quelled – by military force if necessary.

This week, NYT announced their replacements. Charlotte Greensit from the Intercept will be associate op-ed editor and managing editor of the Times.

Greensit is a member of the mob. As such, last month she participated in the left's newest blood libel that Israel is responsible for the alleged systemic racism of American law enforcement agencies when she tweeted, "Israeli security forces are training American cops despite history of rights abuses."

The Times, which has long peppered its news stories with anti-Semitic undertones can be expected to double down on its anti-Jewish slant with Greensit in place.

The second aspect of the Shavuot pogrom that bears consideration is the low-key responses it generated from the Jewish community. Aside from a pro-forma statement by the Anti-Defamation League's Los Angeles office, the Jewish organization that proclaims itself the go-to place for calling out and fighting anti-Semitism has been mum. Even the modern Orthodox communities in Los Angeles failed to condemn the attack on their ultra-Orthodox neighbors.

Greenfield reported that while the modern Orthodox synagogues quickly removed their Torah scrolls from their prayer halls to protect them from possible looters, the modern Orthodox communities refused to condemn the rioters even as they quickly removed their Torah scrolls from their synagogues to protect them. Rather than condemn the BLM rioters targeting their community and expressing solidarity with the victims and the police who stopped the riots from spreading, local modern Orthodox leaders told their communities to support BLM bigots and atone for their own imagined racist crimes. Only the ultra-Orthodox cheered the police and thanked them.

The silence of the Los Angeles Jewish community and the national Jewish organizations in the face of the assault against it isn't unique. In New York, Jews have marched against anti-black racism while their community is subjected to repeated anti-Semitic assaults by their black neighbors. Few and far between have been the condemnations of Mayor Bill DeBlasio despite his repeated acts of anti-Semitic targeting and discrimination.

Last week DeBlasio sent police to padlock a playground in the ultra-Orthodox Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn for coronavirus distancing violations. As the police physically blocked ultra-Orthodox Jewish children from entering the park, non-Jewish children played happily in neighborhood parks throughout Brooklyn and the rest of the city.

DeBlassio wasn't available padlock the playground himself because he was busy participating in a mass protest with BLM in another section of Brooklyn.

Needless to say, New York Jews not only didn't riot in response to the city's bigotry against Jewish children in Williamsburg. When local Jewish leaders broke the locks on the playground in Williamsburg to let the children play, Jews from Park Slope and Manhattan didn't join them. They were alone.

This is the context in which Cong. Elliot Engel, a 16-term incumbent and the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee was defeated in his primary race for re-election. Engel was long one of the staunchest supporters of US-Israel ties in the Democratic Party and a very liberal Democrat.

Jamaal Bowman, Engel's victorious primary opponent supports the BLM charter's call not to legislate curbs on BDS operations. He supports conditioning US military aid to Israel on Israeli concessions to the Palestinians. Bowman ascribes to BLM's racist view of Israel, saying that as a (racially oppressed) African American, he identifies with the Palestinians. Both Bowman and the media that supported his campaign, (particularly Greensit's colleagues at the Intercept) focused on Engel's support for Israel. The undertone of their focus was clear – and anti-Semitic. They communicated the message that Engel the Jew is more loyal to Israel than to the voters of his district.

Instead of decrying Bowman and his supporters for their bigotry, many progressive Jews supported Bowman. As Peter Joseph argued in the progressive Jewish newspaper Forward, "Jamaal Bowman's candidacy asks our community to return to its formerly broad-based concerns and demands that we recognize how urgent it is to address and repair the social, economic, and racial suffering in our nation.

"As this election pits a sixteen-term white Jewish incumbent offering more of the same against a younger Black voice offering a response to this moment in America, Jewish voters should express their aspirations for a better future."

In other words, Engel was too tribal and of course, too pro-Israel.

Why are American Jews refusing to stand up for themselves? Three explanations present themselves. Either they are afraid to speak up, or they are unaware of the danger, or they are part of the problem.

Like their non-Jewish counterparts, many Jews whose businesses were looted by BLM expressed the support and concern for their attackers. While some of them may actually sympathize with the people who destroyed their income source, no doubt many are too terrified to criticize them. They don't need any more trouble. And in the current atmosphere of mob rule, where the police charged with defending them are themselves under attack, caution may be the better part of valor.

The ignorant are a product of their environment. Most American Jews are Democrats and most Democrats get their news from the very news organizations that, as members of the identity-politics dominated left, are not reporting what is happening. Large organizations and liberal synagogues are openly supporting BLM. How are average Jewish Democrats supposed to know what is happening?

This brings us to the Jews that are part of the problem.

This week, a group of far-left Jewish groups published an open letter to the community demanding that American Jews pledge allegiance to a "new covenant" based on seven new principles. The first principle: "Explicit endorsement that Black Lives Matter. Recognizing that Black Lives Matter is a statement that is inherently true and should be accepted without caveat or qualification."

The other six principles are extrapolations and expansions of the first.

So not only is the community not dealing with BLM's structural anti-Semitism, radical groups now demand that the rest of the community make supporting these anti-Semites and embracing their anti-Semitic cause the first principle of a "new covenant" for American Jewry.

So far, Hillel International, the Reconstructionist movement and the San Francisco Jewish Federation among others have written letters of support for the "new covenant."

On Monday, the Wall Street Journal called on members of the political left to wake up and oppose the thought policemen of identity politics. Sadly, it appears that the Jewish victims of those policemen will be the last to hear or heed the call.

EDITOR'S NOTE: And who is mostly responsible for identity politics?  Why, it's none other than the saintly Barack Obama.

POLICE REFORM: L.A. METRO COPS WILL NO LONGER RESPOND TO NONVIOLENT CRIMES

L.A. Metro Board Pushes Police Reform, Seeks To Shift Funds To Homeless Outreach

LAPPL News Watch
June 26, 2020

Transportation officials on Thursday pushed Los Angeles County’s transit system to start a reform of policing on buses and trains, including no longer sending armed officers to respond to nonviolent crimes.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s directors voted 9 to 2 to approve a package of reforms, including hiring unarmed ambassadors to work at stations, expanding fare discounts, finding alternatives to armed law enforcement and shifting funds to homeless outreach.

Those initiatives could be paid for by cutting some funding to policing, the measure said.

In a study conducted by Metro last year, two-thirds of female riders said there were not enough police officers on the transit system.

Current riders’ most common recommendation to improve safety was hiring more police.

That suggests Metro should try to fix the policing culture and perception of safety on the system, rather than remove police entirely, said director and Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr.

WHERE IS BLM? ..... OH, THE MURDERER IS BLACK

Man accused of fatally shooting 7-year-old girl three hours after jail release

By Kenneth Garger

New York Post

June 25, 2020

A North Carolina man was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting a 7-year-old girl on Tuesday three hours after he was released from jail.

Shaquille Marshon Francis, 26, is accused of firing the shot that struck Aaliyah Norris in the head as the little girl was inside a car in Forest City, police said.

Aaliyah was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but by Thursday she had died, police announced.

Police were tipped off by community members that Francis, of Forest City, was the suspect. He was arrested Wednesday and initially slapped with several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

After Aaliyah died, Francis’ charges were upgraded to murder, police said.

Forest City Police Chief Chris LeRoy told WLOS that Francis had been released from jail Tuesday just three hours before he allegedly shot Aaliyah.

Forest City Dunbar Elementary School, which Aaliyah attended, mourned the youngster’s death in a Facebook post.

“The Forest City – Dunbar family is incredibly saddened at the loss of one of our students Aaliyah Norris,” the statement read.

“Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.”
