Public school teachers are expected to participate in extracurricular activities on their own time and they rarely ever receive any recognition for this extra work. Becky Delagarza is an exception. For eight months she went the extra mile by providing special one-on-one activities and by texting over 22,000 messages and making almost 4,000 phone calls at all hours of the day and night. Becky has finally received the recognition she so rightfully deserves.

For eight months beginning last fall, Rebecca Rose Delagarza, 26, Pasadena middle-school coach, had numerous sexual encounters in her office or a locker-room storage room with a 14-year-old female student, court documents allege.
Delagarza appeared in court today, KTRK reports, on two counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of improper relationship with a student.
The court documents outline near-weekly encounters involving, as the legal language puts it, "oral sex on each other and digital penetration of their female organs."
Not to mention 22,400 text messages and 3,800 phone calls over the eight months, "at all hours of the day and night, even during school hours," court documents say.
Other coaches at Thompson Intermediate told investigators that Delagarza and the girl were often seen together and spent time alone in the office and elsewhere, court documents say.
Security cams show the two being together, for instance, for four hours this past June, one of those hours alone together.
Delagarza has been on administrative leave from the Pasadena district since the summer, KTRK says.

And your crap about ruining an innocent person's life would be more appropriate if you were referring to the 14-year-old victim instead of the accused. It just does not make any sense for the District Attorney to proceed in this case without strong evidence that under the law, Delagarza sexually assaulted a child and had inappropriate relations with a student.

Shows just how much you and the Houston press know I guess. And unless you are God, which I am almost positive you're not, I am pretty sure you really don't know what happened. You took what you read in newspaper and internet to make your decision. Someone is already guilty in your eyes without you actually knowing the truth. So maybe you should try to figure that out. You can put your two cents in and make a verdict yourself based off of heresay?
It's not just the Houston Press and me. It's also the Houston Chronicle, Channels 2, 11, 13, and 26, several radio stations, the police, and the district attorney's office.
It's all the same information on every station and channel. They all got their information from one of their reporters that don't know anything. I'm not trying to be mean. It's just frustrating reading something from an outsider who is only hearing what's being said. And by someone who has no personal relationship with anyone involved.

I agree with the anonymous writer...it's crazy how people can judge someone before they know them! Isn't that what we are taught not to do when we are young!?! Just bc a 14yr old that doesn't realize the damage she is causing to an innocent girl and her family "said" she had sexual relations with her coach...the entire world is suppose to believe that!? Everyone has a right to their own opinion. After reading what the news article has said about Rebecca I would feel the same way that everyone else feels... "trusting the people that we leave our kids with everyday has reached a whole new level." BUT... The article is one sided. There are two sides to every story and then there is the truth. Remember that when you are reading stories in the MEDIA. Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.
After reading the stories in the news it sounds like this poor innocent girl that was taken advantage of but Is that what really happen? Maybe someone else was taken advantage of after trying to help. Teachers are not only teachers they are counselors, social workers, coaches, and the many other roles that come with the job. Maybe Rebecca was trying to be all of those to this girl and was taken advantage of herself. We all learn our lessons. Last, you may not feel Rebecca deserves it but give her some Grace. You are right to feel the way you do given the information you have read but remember there is what you read in the paper then there is the truth.

All the media and internet reports spelled it 'Delagarza,' but to stop you from laughing, I'll spell it 'De La Garza.'
As far as your beef on besmirching poor old Becky, you should take that up with all those newspapers, TV stations and radio stations that reported this story.
That is their JOB. Not yours. And you have been around long enough to know with media, you can only believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. They get paid to write a good story. Anon-Even if there is an exageration to the reports, and there may be, this teacher is not allowed to having a personal relationship with a student! This is State law and if anything she is trouble for that. From what I've read and heard some of the text these two shared were sexual in nature, if this is true, it's indefensible! This woman will go on trial and we'll see where the truth is!
I would bet, and I'm making an assumption, but just because you happen to know the person directly doesn't mean YOU know all the facts either! But your hiding behind the "anonymous" name and saying you have all the facts to judge this case really doesn't give you much credibility for an open discussion! To say he knows nothing about this just isn't true! If you've been around as long as he has, you can draw very safe conclusions that there is a very strong element of truth to the accusations!

Based on the fact that after a careful police investigation, the District Attorney's office has obtained an indictment against the teacher you defend so passionately, I can only conclude that she had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student, period.
