The 911 call is critical to both the prosecution and the defense
Surprise, surprise! Judge Debra Nelson has ruled that Tom Owen and Alan Reich, the prosecution's voice recognition experts, will not be allowed to testify about their analysis of the 911 call. However, Judge Nelson will allow the tape of that call, on which someone can be heard screaming for help, to be played in court and any witnesses familiar with Trayvon Martin's voice can be called by the prosecution to testify.
Trayvon Martin's parents insist that the person screaming for help is their son, while the defense claims that it is the voice of George Zimmerman. It may be noteworthy that when he first listened to the 911 tape, Trayvon’s father was sure it was not the voice of his son, but after some prodding from the boy’s mother and their attorney, he came around and said he was now sure the voice was his son’s.
