ROLLING YOUR OWN IN OKLAHOMA

by Bob Walsh

This is sort of pegging out the weird-shit-ometer for me. Misty Spann, 26, of Duncan, OK, just copped a plea in Stephens County to a charge of incest. She married her mother. She got ten years probation. The mother, Patricia Ann Span, 44, is going to trial on the charge which could get her ten years in the slammer. Possibly she is rolling the dice because she was already charged with marrying one of her sons back in 2008. That marriage was annulled due to it being incestuous.

The mother said she thought it was legal because she lost custody of the daughter and sons many years before and is not listed on their birth certificates. (I have heard of a FATHER not being listed on a birth certificate. How can a MOTHER not be listed on a birth certificate except in abandonment cases?)

She was reunited with the daughter three years ago and the two just "hit if off" so they decided to get married. They got married in 2016. The state seems to think it was mostly a scam to get more benefits and to make it easier to adopt a child. Must have strange adoption laws in Oklahoma as well.
