TWO BUSHES DO NOT MAKE A TRUMP

George H. W. calls Trump a blowhard and George W. says he doesn’t know what it means to be president

“The Last Republicans” is a new book due to be released later this month. In his research for the book, author Mark Updegrove interviewed both former presidents George H. W. and George W. Bush. The interviews were conducted in May 2016 during the Republican primary campaign.

Both former presidents were pissed off at Trump for his attacks on Jeb Bush, H. W.’s son and W.’s brother.

George H. W. Bush, the 41st president, said “I don’t like him. I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard.”

George W. Bush, the 43 rd president, said “This guy doesn’t know what it means to be president.”

“A person who blusters and boasts in an unpleasant way,” appears to be the most common definition of blowhard. That fits Trump alright, especially with his angry tweets.

As to whether Trump knows what it means to be president, there are times when he’s acted presidential, but often his thin-skinned ego causes him to be anything but presidential. Lashing out with personal attacks on Twitter against anyone who criticizes him is not presidential, even though his hard-core followers love it.

You can dismiss the two Bushes as sore losers, but the problem for Trump is that his hard-core followers constitutes only 35 percent of the voters and that’s not quite enough to win future elections.
