I often watch the Finding Your
Roots program on PBS. It backtracks family trees for celebrities. It
is kind of interesting. Last week the teaser for this week featured
Angela Davis. She is now billed as an ACTIVIST instead of as a
Communist and Murderer. Times change.
In
any event the tease was correct. Genetic testing reveals conclusively
that Ms. Davis is in fact a direct lineal descendant from one of the
enterprising souls that came over on the Mayflower. She is also a
direct descendant of someone who served in the American Revolution (on
the side of the colonists).
I wonder if she will apply to join up with the D.A.R. or the Mayflower Society?
EDITOR'S NOTE: On the Mayflower? And pigs can fly.

Really Howie. The genetic evidence is conclusive. She actually has a fair number of white ancestors. I don't remember the name they gave, I THINK it was William Brewster, but she is for sure a direct lineal descendant from one of the original European settlers. She seemed surprised. And a little pissed.
