Former Oakland police chief LeRonne Armstrong
LeRonne Armstrong used to the
the chief of the Oakland CA Police Department. He was sacked in
February. He is now asserting that he was sacked for exercising his
constitutional rights to call the federal monitor, Robert Warshaw who
keeps and eye on the department an idiot (though admittedly not in so
many words).
Armstrong
has filed a claim against Mayor Sheng Taho, and various other city
bigwigs retaliated against him for exercising his constitutional
rights. The claim is a necessary precursor to actually filing a
lawsuit.
Armstrong did
say that Warshaw was deliberately making false allegations against the
department in order to keep his own cushy gig running.
Anne Kirkpatrick, a former Oakland PD Chief, was fired in 2020. The city paid out $1.5 million to her 11 months ago.
