BART is the Bay Area Rapid Transit District. It has been around the greater San Francisco Bay Area since the late 1960s. Originally Santa Clara County opted OUT of BART, but has since decided that having a transit loop into the south bay makes good sense and have since bought in. BART is on its way to finishing construction of two stations in Santa Clara County, though the rolling stock has not yet arrived which will tend to put a ding in service
Unfortunately the people in Livermore (Alameda County) who have been paying taxes into the system for more than 50 years still do not have their station. BART has the land, the right-of-way is there. They just haven't gotten around to it yet. Sucks, doesn't it.?
