LNU FIRE IS BECOMING REALLY NASTY

Unfortunately Its Not The Only One

by Bob Walsh

There are currently over 300 wild fires burning in CA, many of them caused by a dry lightning storm a week or so back.  The largest of them, a merging of several smaller fires that have run together, is being called the LNU Lightning Complex Fire, is now the second largest wild fire in CA history.  These fires have left six dead in their paths.  More than 1,000 fire fighters are working on the LNU complex fire alone, the largest of three such fires currently burning.

The LNU fire is burning in and near Solano County.  Fire authorities are urging rural residents to NOT attempt to fight the fires on their own as the rescues of such individuals are pulling staff away from firefighting duties.  This fire has burned more than 22,000 acres and destroyed at least 500 structures.  Containment is less than 10%.  Many of these fires are burning in very rugged areas with limited road access.
