The Clayton County (GA) lost a
murderer for a few hours recently. After going batshit crazy looking
for the superannuated killer they discovered that the transport crew had
left him in a holding cell at the courthouse for 12 hours or so. He
had been moved there for a misdemeanor legal beef. Apparently it wasn't
really clear who was responsible for watching him so nobody watched
him.
The prisoner, Julian
Brooks Deloach, 70, was left alone in the holding cell which is not
intended for overnight housing, though it does have a toilet. The cell
is accessible from both the jail and the court house, but nobody
bothered to look there for 12 hours while they were searching the jail
for him.
Clayton
County Sheriff Levon Allen has recommended that the Sergeant involved be
busted down and the deputies be suspended. They have elected to not
appeal the sheriff's decision.
