Donald Trump wants to toss a Democratic political dynasty in jail for funding his foes.
In an unprompted outburst on Truth Social Wednesday morning, Trump demanded his administration pursue federal racketeering charges against liberal billionaire George Soros and his family.
The president claimed the elder Soros and his ‘radical left’ son should be charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act because of their support for ‘violent protests.’
‘George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,’ Trump wrote, without providing any evidence or specifying what incidents he was referring to.
Republicans have long accused Soros of funding violent demonstrations and riots.
‘We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to “BREATHE,” and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country!’
Trump concluded, ‘That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you!'
Soros and his family are seen as a major boogeyman in GOP circles. Over the years, the family has provided hundreds of millions to progressive candidates and organizations via the Open Society Foundations.
Trump demanded his administration levy RICO charges against George Soros, 95, and his 'radical left' son Alex Soros.
Soros, via his Open Society Foundations, has funded Trump's political foes across the country
In 2023, Soros, 95, handed control over the philanthropic organization to his youngest son Alex.
During the 2024 election, Alex supported and raised money for Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris. The younger Soros is married to Hillary Clinton’s close aide Huma Abedin.
The Soros organization was a major donor to the campaigns for progressive local prosecutors and attorney generals that have challenged the Trump administration in court.
Following Trump’s RICO threat, the Open Society Foundations responded on behalf of the Soros family in a statement to the Daily Mail.
‘These accusations are outrageous and false,’ a spokesperson for the organization told the Daily Mail. ‘The Open Society Foundations do not support or fund violent protests. Our mission is to advance human rights, justice, and democratic principles at home and around the world.’
‘We stand for fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including the rights to free speech and peaceful protest that are hallmarks of any vibrant democracy.’
Trump did not specify an exact reason for why he suddenly called for a prosecution of the Soros family.
However, the president’s threats come as his administration pursues criminal investigations into his political enemies.

Since starting his second-term, Trump has called for the arrests of multiple political foes, including New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Recently, the FBI raided the home and office of former national security adviser turned Trump critic John Bolton.
The raid is part of the FBI's investigation into Bolton's use of classified documents while writing his memoir The Room Where It Happened. The 2020 book provides a critical view of Trump during his first-term.
Shortly before Joe Biden left office, he awarded the elder Soros with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Absent some very specific evidence that idea is a pipe dream.
45-47 has a good point. George Soros has reportedly been suspect in funding riots which has led to injuries, wide spread destruction and assaults on our police officers. Yet, BGB's name calling focuses on his negative obsession with 45-45. Additional morning entertainment with my coffee.
Wrong! Soros has funded far-left organizations, prosecutors and politicians, but there is no evidence that he directly funded any violent protests. You cannot hold him legally responsible for the violent protests that have been carried on by adherents to some of the organizations he funded.
What? Yes, I can blame Soros. Your response that includes ORGANIZATIONS THAT HE FUNDED sums it up for me.
There is more evidence that the God you worship was responsible for the January 6 violent storming of the capitol than evidence that Soros was responsible for any riots.
