President Donald Trump’s landmark migrant detention center nicknamed Alligator Alcatraz could have zero inmates in the coming days.

Located deep within the Florida Everglades, the controversial detention center is losing all of its detainees after a federal judge ruled last week it must be dismantled, according to the Washington Post.

The Obama-appointed Miami US District Judge Kathleen Williams denied a DHS request Wednesday to stay her order requiring the facility to be taken down within the next two months.

Alligator Alcatraz, which can hold up to 5,000 detainees, was advertised by Trump as his administration’s keynote migrant detention facility as DHS conducts the largest mass deportation operation in U.S. history.

Now two months after opening, in a complete rebuke of Trump’s immigration policy, the detention facility is closing its gates and preparing to move out all of the illegal migrants.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday DHS has ‘increased the pace of the removals’ from the facility.

Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie said in an email obtained by WaPo that ‘we are probably going to be down to 0 individuals within a few days.’

“I think he was just referring to they’re deporting them very quickly, and that’s a good thing,” DeSantis said when asked about Guthrie’s email.

‘We don’t determine who goes into the facility…Who they send in or don’t send in is on their decision.’

Meanwhile, the DHS confirmed they are complying with the ‘activist judge’ who ordered the facility to be taken apart.

‘We are working at turbo speed on cost-effective and innovative ways to deliver on the American people’s mandate for mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens,’ said DHS spokesman Nathaniel Madden.

‘DHS is complying with this order and moving detainees to other facilities. We will continue to fight tooth-and-nail to remove the worst of the worst from American streets.’

Protesters outside the facility’s gates told WaPo that busloads of detainees were seen being moved out last weekend.

The judge’s order originates from a lawsuit filed by Earthjustice and Friends of the Everglades who sued the state and federal governments for erecting the detention center without conducting an environmental assessment.

Environmental groups along with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida argued to the judge that the facility could cause harm to the Everglades ecosystem.

‘This is a detention center that never should have opened,’ said Tania Galloni, an attorney with Earthjustice.

‘It’s gratifying that operations have come to a close there because every day that center operated, it was causing environmental harm.’

DHS did not specify where they intend on relocating the illegal migrants who are awaiting deportation.
