HARRY REID'S MANIFESTO

The new Democrats according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

SUDDENLY, THE DEMS ARE RODNEY KING

Now that they’ve lost control of the House of Representatives and their big majority in the Senate, Democrats are channeling LA con Rodney King, pleading, “Can’t we all just get along?”

On Politico.com, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is his typical weasel self in an unintentionally hilarious essay called “Hoping for a Year of Pragmatism.” He writes, with a straight face:

“Hope is not enough for the hardworking people in Nevada and all across America who continue to struggle. Our job in Congress is to put their interests ahead of ideology and partisanship and work together to get things done.”

Since when are the Democrats interested in putting the interests of the people ahead of ideology and partisanship? They spent the last four years, when they had control of Congress, steamrolling Republicans and ramming through massive, deficit-busting, and hugely unpopular legislation.

Reid continues, “In the new Congress, Democrats will find pragmatic ways to solve the problems facing our country and to revive the economic growth and innovation that have made America the global leader it is today. We will continue to reach out to Republicans as partners in problem solving - in the hope that they will make decisions based on common sense and not on the extremism that has recently gripped their party.”

Since when are the Democrats interested in reaching out to Republicans as “partners?” Oh right: since Republicans gained greater control. And since when are Democrats interested in “common sense?” I have yet to see ANY come out of the modern Democrat party. And it’s outright laughable that Reid would cite “extremism” in the Republican party, when he’s helped to lead the most extreme, radical Democrat party in recent history.

Reid also states, “We have many new challenges. Above all, Democrats will focus on creating jobs.”

Since when are the Democrats focused on creating jobs? They spent the last 2 years off in the weeds doing ObamaCare, a $3.6 trillion over 10 years entitlement that most Americans did not want and which we cannot afford. The American people were screaming for jobs and a focus on improving the economy, and the Democrats turned a deaf ear in order to push through a massive new instrument for government expansion and control. Now they say they want to focus on jobs? Too late.

Now that the Democrats have less power, they plead for a coming together and stopping harsh words and compromise—-when they did none of those things when they were in control. In fact, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid not only did not seek coming together, they deliberately railroaded the other side. Now that they are somewhat at the mercy of the GOP, they beg for mercy and decency.

The country needs to be saved from the damage they have caused. Instead of pathetically trying to claim that they now want to “work together,” they need to get out of the way and let the conservatives and Republicans on the Hill try to begin to clean up their mess.
