SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Days after a missing parolee escapes from deputies in Carpinteria, his mother is speaking to Central Coast News and says her son is not a dangerous criminal.
"We all love you so much. Please do the right thing son," said Elizabeth Vallejo, the suspect's mother.
As Elizabeth Vallejo fights to hold back tears, she begs her son, 22-year-old Joseph Vallejo to turn himself in.
"He's not some big murderer that they need to be putting helicopters out there and dogs out there for him," said Elizabeth.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies say Joseph is on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and escaped from deputies Monday night in Carpinteria.
"He's was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now they got him labeled as some serious parolee out on the run. They are judging my son by the big tattoo on his neck when really they don't know that it is in memory of his brother, Paulino Pommier, that was shot two years ago," explained Elizabeth.
Paulino's murder is still a cold case, and the search was called off for Joseph for now.
"I do not know where Joseph is at this time. I believe if they do find him, they are going to get trigger happy," said Elizabeth.
While deputies ask for the public's help in finding Joseph, Elizabeth is praying for both of her sons, one to find his murderer, the other to make it home alive.
Elizabeth says she has not talked to her son since the incident happened.
