COPS GOT ESCAPEE’S GOOSE AT THE GALLOPIN’ GOOSE

A Valentine’s Day dinner date with his girlfriend was rather short lived for an Arizona jail escapee

Joseph Andrew Dekenipp, 40, had been a guest at the Pinal County jail in Florence, Arizona since January 10. He was hanging around awaiting court proceedings for suspicion of theft, trafficking in stolen property, unlawful flight and other charges.

Friday afternoon he was in the jail’s recreation yard when he told other inmates that he was lonely and wanted to take his girlfriend out for Valentine’s Day. When the other inmates returned to their cells at 4 p.m., Dekenipp was missing. Somehow he managed to scale two 12-foot high razor wire-topped perimeter fences undetected.

Four hours after he was discovered missing, cops found Dekenipp at the Gallopin’ Goose saloon in Coolidge, a driving distance of 11 miles from Florence. His girlfriend had arrived only a short while before, expecting to enjoy a Valentine’s Day dinner, some drinks and dancing. It would have had to be some real slow dancing because Romeo broke his foot jumping from the top of one of the two perimeter fences he had scaled.

Dekenipp was arrested and hospitalized for his broken foot and cuts from the razor wire. An escape charge will now be added to the other charges he was facing.
