THREE WAY SPLIT WILL BE ON THE BALLOT

by Bob Walsh

The proposal to split the formerly great state of California into three states will actually make it to the November ballot. The proposal, if successful, would create California, Northern California, and Southern California.

California would be the coast from about Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz. Northern California would be from about Fresno North. Southern California would be what's left. This would create three states that are more or less equal in population and average per capita income.

Personally I would be much happier if San Francisco went with CA instead of NorCal as that would leave the idiot fringe to go their own way, but that's life.

To actually accomplish this requires this vote, then votes of both houses of the California legislature, then the permission of both houses of Congress. The proposal would create four new senate seats, which could very well be an issue. Never the less splitting new states off existing states has happened twice before if memory serves, so it could, at least in theory, happen again.

EDITOR'S NOTE: For this to happen if the voters approve the ballot measure, both Houses of Congress would have to have a sizable majority of Democrats. The Democrats would have an orgasm over the prospect of getting 4 more Democratic seats in the Senate.

If it succeeds, China's economy will be given a boost. More Chinese workers will be required to turn out the new 52 states flag.

Actually there is a fair chance that the new SoCal would end up voting Republican. If it wasn't for SF being part of it the new NorCal would definitely go Republican, but SF does exist and would be there so it is what it is, or maybe will be, or whatever.
