SERIOUS ATTACK ON STAFF AT CALIPATRIA STATE PRISON

y Bob Walsh

A total of six staff members were injured, one seriously, in an attack by an inmate at Calipatria (CA) state prison on Thursday.

Douglas Compson, 38, was noticed to be in an out-of-bounds area on one of the exercise yards. He was approached by staff and ordered to move. The situation deteriorated sharply resulting in six staff injured, one being stabbed in the face and neck. Two inmate manufactured stabbing weapons were recovered at the scene.

Compton is doing 112-life for murder. Off hand I would say he felt he had very little to lose.

Sorry POS needs permanent isolation.

Can't do that any more. Courts say it's mean.

6 on one should have been pretty good odds.

The department transitioned from the PR-24 to those cute skinny little expandable batons about 14 years ago, just as I was about to retire. Ya, their "less intimidating" I suppose but, unfortunately, they're also a whole lot less effective.

I still have one by the way. They may be cumbersome, but they get the job done.
