Amanda
Ray, 54, will become the first female Commissioner of the California
Highway Patrol effective November 17. She is currently a deputy
commissioner and was appointed to her position by the Governor.
She began with the CHP in 1982 and has held every uniform rank within the department.
She,
along with the current Commissioner, waded into a crowd of protesters
who had jumped barriers at the state capitol building in early June.
She has some been-there, done-that time.
