A significant Second Amendment case is going to be presented before SCOTUS Tuesday.
The
case is basically out of Hawaii, but also could effect New Jersey,
California, and one or two other states. At issue is whether or not the
state can prohibit the carrying of weapons on private property that is
routinely open to the public (i.e. retail establishments) unless the
property owner specifically permits such carry.
I
am a big believer in individual property rights. I would not have a
huge problem (maybe just a small problem) if the law was worded the
other way around, that is carry was permitted unless specifically posted
as being forbidden. For that matter I would not have a problem if the
law specifically permitted the carry of weapons in virtually all places
open to the public.
In
four or five months we should find out which way the wind is blowing. I
am betting that, in light of Bruen, the ruling will be AGAINST Hawaii
and the other states. And they will then try to come up with some MORE
creative ways to fuck with honest gun owners. It is kind of like
legislative whack-a-mole.
