A MEMORABLE EXCHANGE OF LASTING GIFTS

On this Columbus Day, I want to remind everyone that the discovery of America did not pass without the customary exchange of gifts between visitors and those being visited.

Columbus and his crew presented the Indians with SMALLPOX and the Indians returned the favor by presenting the Europeans with SYPHILIS.

Native-Americans, left-wing historians and educators can badmouth Columbus all they want, but that exchange of gifts constituted what I see as a memorable moment in the history of mankind.
