A man who was well known to the local constabulary was shot to death Thursday by members of the Baltimore PD.
The four plainclothes cops were riding in a Nissan sedan with the windows rolled down about 9:30 pm when they heard the sound of gunfire at an apartment building. They drove toward the sound and saw a man with an AR style rifle shooting. The man then turned towards the officers and opened fire from about 50 feet. Two of the four officers opened fire and the apparently wounded suspect fled into the building.
The cops pursued and found and apprehended the suspect, who later went toes up from gunshot wounds. None of the cops were hurt.
The suspect is black. So far the PD has not revealed the ethnic identity of the cops who shot him. The dead guy, Dayten Ernest Harper, either 33 or 35 depending on which records you believe, had an extensive criminal history including crimes of violence.
The day of this incident the FBI notified all Maryland law enforcement that the Black Guerilla Family (BGF) had made threats against law enforcement in the area.
