The powers that be in North Carolina have decided that the staff murders in their prison system makes them look like a bunch of incompetent dicks, so they are actually making some changes which may turn out to be improvements in how they manage their system.
The system has a vacancy rate of about 25%. They plan to hold a career fair to recruit military veterans and their spouses and dependents for prison work.
They are also going to purchase AND DISTRIBUTE stab resistant vests and quit hiring dangerous inmates to work in areas where potentially dangerous tools are routinely kept and used.
Federal investigators, who came in at the request of the prison system, made over 100 recommendations for changes in their system.

The recommendation sounds pretty basic. How much did North Carolina pay the feds to inspect their prison?
