Assuming the recent reporting is correct failure to move against him for more than an hour was, IMHO, lame and unforgivable. Current doctrine with an active shooter and potential victims still in the area is you quickly put together an ad-hoc team and go in after the bad guy. Also, assuming he was in fact wandering around trying to get into the school for 12 minutes and finally entered thru a door that was supposed to be locked but wasn't, somebody from the school screwed the pooch rather spectacularly there too. Again, assuming the current reporting is correct, while the cops were standing around a mother entered the school, found her kids and got them out. A second mother tried to and was pepper sprayed by the cops.

A friend from Uvalde posted on FB last night and said this was Bullshit.

So much for the police line about when you run from danger the police run toward it. Looks like mom does.

Update: Yep Bob, According to the head of DPS there was a horrible mistake made in changing the status from active shooter to a barricaded suspect. I took active shooter training and there should never be a stand down called until the shooter is eliminated. I wasn't trained that way. There is no stand down, Kings X or waiting on proper equipment. I don't care if you have 3 rounds left for a rusty Raven .25, each officer should continue to make entry and advance on the shooter until he is eliminated. What a tragedy.
