DEREK CHAUVIN SHANKED IN FEDERAL SLAMMER

By Bob Walsh

Derek Chauvin, 47, was stabbed and seriously injured in prison in Arizona on Friday. He needed 'life saving' attention from prison staff. Chauvin is pictured on March 17 via Zoom

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was a guest of the people at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tuscon when he was shanked on Friday.  The Tucson facility is medium security.

Chauvin was sentenced to 22 1/2 years for the murder of George Floyd and 21 years on the civil rights charge connected to that death.

The U. S. Supreme Court has just declined an appeal for a new trial for Chauvin on the state charges.

Chauvin is in stable condition after the attack.

In Texas, all former police officers are housed together at one unit. They are never in contact with the general population.

How many people are shanked each year? Interesting, should a convicted cop get special protection not afforded others? Everyone in prison should be kept safe.

Yes they should be afforded special protection.

Not trying to get your goat, but what's your reasoning?
