Several cities in CA have begun
to use drones to spot illegal fireworks launchers around the Fourth of
July. Most of these cities (Sacramento and Elk Grove are two of them)
have a $1,000 fine for malefactors. The idea is the drone spots the
person launching the fireworks, notes where they go to get more, assumes
that it where they live and mail a $1,000 citation. They can also go
after the landlord, which maybe is unfair, as it is almost impossible to
throw a tenant out in CA even if they are committing criminal acts.
IN
any event these two cities mailed out a few HUNDRED citations. If the
residents don't have as real good snivel, like I WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY
THAT WEEK AND CAN PROVE IT, the city will go after them.
There
were two people killed by illegal fireworks in NorCal this year, plus
several fires started, including house fires. I don't feel too bad if
some shitforbrains sets fire to his own house but if he burns his
neighbor's house down that sort of bums me out.
I will try to keep up on this and see how it goes.
