SPRINGDALE, AR - Newly released video shows murder suspect Andrew McGann being taken into custody on Wednesday night, July 30th, while getting his haircut at Lupita's Beauty Salon.

McGann, 28, is a former North Texas elementary school teacher that has been accused of murdering a couple hiking with their children at Devil's Den State Park, FOX4 reported. McGann was arrested at the salon within an hour of being identified as the suspect. The stylist who served him says she had an eerie feeling from the moment he sat down, according to People.

"As soon as I saw him, as I was telling him to come into my chair, I had an eerie feeling about him," hairstylist Adriana Ruiz Avalos said. Before the haircut began, Avalos' aunt, who also works at the salon, asked McGann his name, and he allegedly stared back blankly.

"Something kind of didn't feel right," Avalos recalled, based on her aunt's reaction. "He looked soulless. He didn't look right," she added. She described his eyes as "very sunken in" and his hair as "very dry and matted." Avalos described the moments the police moved in to arrest him: "He had his head down the whole time. He really didn't say anything until they were like, 'I believe it's your car.'"

She said McGann still had his hairdressing cape around his neck when officers handcuffed him. Police have not released specific details about how they identified him, but said evidence in his home and DNA evidence from the scene linked him to the crimes.

McGann also allegedly admitted to the murders after being arrested, stating that he didn't know the family; his motive remains unknown. "In my 27 years that I've been with the State Police, this is probably one of the most heinous that we've had, especially the aspect of just how random it was," Arkansas State Police Major Stacie Rhoads said.

Police said investigators had collected photos and video from several hikers who were on the trails around the time of the murders. Security cameras also captured video of the suspect's vehicle as he was leaving the state park. The car reportedly had tape over the license plates. The photos and a composite sketch led to hundreds of tips from the public.

"Everyone speculates that there was a lot of thought that went into concealing his identity, but on the other side of that, he was very sloppy," Rhoads said. McGann's first appearance in an Arkansas courtroom was on Friday morning, August 1st. The judge asked if he was Andrew James McGann, and he responded, "Yes." He did not say anything else.

The judge then read the charges before McGann was assigned a public defender. His next court date is scheduled for August 25th. McGann is being held at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond.

Avalos says she's still processing what happened. "It does take a toll on someone. I'm just overwhelmed. I'm saddened because two little girls lost their parents," she said. "And it's ... a soulless act by Andrew. It's unimaginable."

He was probably going to kill the barber anyway. I would have.
