HOUSTON, Texas -- A man who is accused of shooting and killing a contractor in south Houston made his first court appearance overnight.

Omar Marzouk appeared in front of a judge for the first time two days after court documents said he fatally shot 32-year-old Jimmy Arevalo.

The shooting happened near Highway 288 near MacGregor on Wednesday morning at a restaurant on Calumet Street.

Surveillance video shows the suspect approach Arevalo, who was pressure washing restaurant equipment, before an argument ensued, and the suspect opened fire before taking off in a gray Toyota Tundra.

Court documents said Marzouk was allegedly upset over the noise of the pressure washer.

Following the shooting, court documents said Marzouk tried to sell items such as cars and tools before he was arrested on Thursday afternoon. According to officials, he has been charged with murder.

ABC13 spoke with the brother of Arevalo, who was working at the restaurant at the time of the shooting and found his brother's body. He says Marzouk is a "monster with no regard for human life."

Marzouk is expected to make another court appearance on Friday, officials said. The judge set his bond at $500,000.
