By Bob Walsh
Eric Swalwell and Christine Fang
US Representative Eric Swalwell
is chiefly famous (?) for playing hide the salami with a ChiCom spy
known as Fang Fang. He is also running for governor of the formerly
great state of California.
He
announced two items on his platform today. He will arrest ICE agents
for refusing to remove their masks while working. I suspect he does not
mean he would PERSONALLY arrest them. But you never know. He also
announced that he would revoke drivers licenses of ICE agents who refuse
to obey the CA law about masked law enforcement agents. That kind of
ignores the fact that there is no statutory authority for the governor,
or even the DMV, to take any such action. It also ignores the fact that
there is no legal requirement for federal employees to have a state
drivers license while driving vehicles owned by the federal government.
There is an administrative requirement by the feds that their employees
do so for administrative convenience, but it is not a legal mandate.
(I grant you it is possible the law has changed since I did this for a
living, but I sort of doubt it.)
A tale told by a fool, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
