Protesters march in downtown Tehran, Iran, on Dec. 29, 2025.
It seems that there MAYBE a significant internal power
shift going on in Iran, possibly triggered by a collapse of their
currency. Possibly helped along with shoves from the US and Israel.
Allegedly
some of the big fish are taking their stolen fortunes and fleeing the
country. Allegedly some significant factions of both the police and the
military are moving away from backing the theocracy and moving towards
backing the people.
I am
not holding my breath, but it sure would be nice for something positive
to come out of there. At one time Iran (Persia) was a peaceful and
progressive place. Farsi was the mostly wide spoken language
(geographically) on the planet. You could do business in Farsi between
London and Peking. Now they are a bunch of religious zealots with their
heads stuck in the 11th century because that is where the power comes
from, successful repression of the people. Once you lose control you
are dead. Literally. Ask Tsar Nicholas how that went for him.
I am not sure that the people are ready to have a government that is separate from their religion. But it would be nice.
