Aaron Alexis, the kook who shot to death 12 workers and wounded more than a dozen others at the Washington Navy Yard today, has reenergized the gun control crowd.
Alexis had an AR-15 type rifle, a shotgun and a pistol. Since he shot from the third or fourth floor overlooking an atrium, the shotgun was probably not the weapon that killed and wounded most of the victims.
Thanks to this kook, the anti-gunners have been given a new lease on life and are already tooting their horns. Look for a renewed campaign to ban assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
UPDATE: The September 17 Los Angeles Times reports that contrary to previous reports that had been widely circulated, Alexis did not use an AR-15 semiautomatic weapon. He used only his shotgun and a pistol he took from security guard he shot.

He did NOT have an AR, he used a shotgun, plus maybe a handgun taken from a guard he shot. The only ARs present were used by responders.
