The NFL says a sexist remark is disrespectful to females but refusing to stand for the National Anthem is not disrespectful to our flag and country
During a question about receiver Devin Funchess’ routes by Charlotte Observe female reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton smirked and cringed, then laughingly replied:
“It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes. It’s funny.”
Newton was immediately inundated by a shitstorm of criticism for takinr a sexist dig at Rodrigue.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy called Newton’s crack “just plain wrong and disrespectful …..”
Newton has been one of the black NFL players that have been refusing to stand for our National Anthem.
So the NFL says Newton was disrespectful to a female reporter, but he and the other NFL players refusing to stand for the anthem are not disrespectful to our flag and country. You cannot get anymore double standard than that.
