Steve Chaggaris used to be the Political Director for CBS news. He is now unemployed due to allegations of "inappropriate private behavior." He was sacked on Wednesday after what seems to have been a very quick investigation. That sort of tends to indicate that he was either guilty as sin or they really wanted to get rid of him anyway. I am guessing answer #1 is more likely to be correct.
He had been with CBS for nearly 20 years at one level or another and did, at least on occasion, appear on the air.
