SOME TIMES THE "FRIDAY DUMP" DOES NOT WORK

by Bob Walsh

The Friday Dump is a time honored tradition where by people, usually but not always government officials, release information that they have to release but really don't want to at 5 p.m. on Friday when everybody (including the press) is heading out the door. Sometimes this successfully ignores a story to death. But not always.

California Governor Gavin Newsom tried this stunt when he released an audit of the DMV. The DMV is the state organization everybody is forced to deal with and nobody wants to deal with.

This audit revealed the the legally mandated "Motor Voter" program illegally registered at least six people to vote. All of these people in fact did vote, though none are being prosecuted for doing so.

This program resulted in the generation of 84,000 duplicate voter records and a minimum of 171,000 errors in the recording of individual voter's party registration.

State officials have been aware of this for six months but have been attempting to ignore it to death. The results were even kept secret from the Joint Legislative Audit Committee.

Each day the DMV processed 50,000 voter registrations, sometimes whether or not the applicant wants one processed. (I recently got a REAL ID and I think I had to tell the computer four times I did NOT want to "update" my voter registration, and I had to tell the human I was dealing with once.) But it's OK, because most of the illegal voters register and vote Democrap.
