Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tapped by President Biden to address the ongoing crisis at the Southern border, lashed out at Texas governor Greg Abbott for busing migrants to so-called sanctuary jurisdictions during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers Monday, accusing the border-state governor of “dereliction of duty.”

“I just think it’s an absolute dereliction of duty. If you see a problem and we agree that we need to address it, then if you’re a leader, participate in a solution, right?” Harris said. “They’ve fled great harm and they are coming here seeking refuge. Talk about political theater.”

Harris has overseen skyrocketing rates of illegal migrants crossing the border since being made border czar. This April, nearly a quarter-of-a-million migrants were apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border, nearly half of whom were released internally. Yet, Harris still insisted in the interview that the border is “secure” and that Abbott should work on constructive solutions instead of “this gamesmanship with real human beings who trust us.”

The comments come after Abbott sent a bus full of migrants to Harris’s official residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., last week. The bus was just one of many that the governor has shipped to Democratic-controlled cities as part of Operation Lone Star. He announced Monday that the state has sent 8,200 migrants to D.C., 3,200 to New York City, and 920 to Chicago since the program began in the spring.

Harris was not alone in her condemnation of Abbott’s handling of the border crisis. Meyers also took the opportunity to call out the governor for “participating in a piece of political theatre, he is sending migrants, basically dropping them off at your doorstep. I don’t think playing games with people’s lives is a solution to the problem.” It’s very haunting to watch human beings used as props like that.”

The reason for Harris’s first late-night appearance as vice president was to tout Biden’s pardoning of thousands of Americans convicted on federal marijuana-possession charges.

Harris has a spotty record on drug convictions and marijuana possession dating back to her time as San Francisco’s district attorney in which she “oversaw nearly 2,000 marijuana-related convictions,” Fox News reported. During the Democratic presidential nomination in 2019, Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii highlighted Harris’ checkered past. “She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations.”

While serving as San Francisco’s DA, Harris put thousands behind bars for the very offense she is now championing: smoking marijuana. During a radio appearance in 2019 she openly laughed about smoking herself. When asked if she had ever smoked on The Breakfast Club, Harris responded: “I have and I inhaled” as she laughed throughout her response.
