Erika Sandoval, 38, was married
at one time to Daniel Green, a cop in Exeter, CA. Back in 2015 he was
found dead in his house when he no-showed for his shift. He had been
shot several times while taking a shower, including one to the head.
Surveillance showed Sandoval coming and going from the home at about the
time of the murder.
Her
lawyer asserts that her actions were largely influenced by abuse by
Green. He had never been charged with any such offense. The
prosecution claims that she was just pissed because Green dumped her.
An
earlier trial, in 2019, led to a hung jury. The retrial focused more
on Sandoval's recorded confession and the jury brought in a guilty of
first degree murder conviction.
Sentencing
is scheduled for June 5, almost ten years after the murder. And people
wonder why the criminal justice system is not well thought of in
California.
