Bill Scott is, at eight years tenure, the longest serving
Chief of the San Francisco Police Department in history. I confess
that statistic surprises me. it has been generally believed that he
would leave "soonish" since the election of the new mayor, Daniel Lurie.
He
is moving to take over the LA Transit Police, which most people would
call a step down. He in fact worked for the LAPD for a number of years
and topped out as Deputy Chief. It is believed that the SFPD overtime
bill for $61 million might have had something to do with his departure.
It
is rumored that the SFPD is actively recruiting for a left-handed
transsexual lesbian who is also an undocumented alien. That is probably
an exaggeration. Probably.
