Police officers of the
Tremonton-Garland, Utah police department were responding to a domestic
when the situation turned to crap Sunday night.
The
cops got multiple 911 hang-ups from the residence and a single officer
arrived and was speaking to someone at the house when a man exited the
house with a gun and fired on the single officer. That officer died. A
sheriff's deputy and a police dog were wounded in their car as they
arrived at the scene. A deputy from Box Elder County was wounded but
was released from the hospital the next day.
Bystanders
managed to persuade the armed man to give up before approximately 50
cops arrived, including at least one SWAT team.
Tremonton
is a city of about 13,000 people and is a half-way point for many
people on the way to Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon and similar
destinations.

Policies need to be changes that doesn't allow single officer units to respond to DD calls. Multiple hang ups on 911 is a known signal that something bad is happening. RIP.
