New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and police officer Jeffrey Vappie
LaToya Cantrell, 53, is the
serving mayor of New Orleans. She has just been indicted by a federal
grand jury for corruption. She is (much to my surprise) the first New
Orleans mayor to be indicted by the feds while still in office.
She
was apparently playing hide the salami with he chief body guard,
Jeffrey Vappie, 52. This included having him present, at government
expense, on various overseas trips. The feds estimate his presence
sucked up about $70,000 in taxpayer funds to be a government paid boy
toy. He and she also spent a LOT of time at a city owned apartment when
he was supposed to be on duty with the NOLA police department.
Vappie
also has separate problems relating to being less than truthful when
talking with the FBI. That is a bad thing. They have no sense of humor
about it.
Since this just
happened on Friday there has not been a lot of time for either of them
to assert that they are being harassed by Donald Trump and that their
indictment is clearly racist.
